Official Bristol Record Contacts
Connecticut does not have a Bristol county sheriff jail or a local sheriff records counter. The correct office depends on whether the question concerns a Bristol police report, state custody, a court case, supervision, or federal detention. Use the originating office below and ask it to confirm current procedures before mailing payment or visiting.
Bristol Police Records Division
131 North Main Street
Bristol, CT 06010
Records: (860) 584-3061
Records Commander: (860) 584-3060
Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.; closed holidays. The division handles Bristol police reports in person or by mail at $0.50 per side. It does not release report information by phone. Mailed requests require a self-addressed stamped envelope, incident number, and correct prepaid amount.
CT DOC Public Information Office
Connecticut Department of Correction

Fax: (860) 692-7873
The FOI Office coordinates formal requests for CT DOC custody, movement, release, discharge, and other agency records. Its official page links to the GovQA request portal.
Choose the route that matches the record or custody system involved:
- For a named person and a formal release-record path, start on the Bristol released-inmates home page, then request the source record from Bristol Police, CT DOC, or the court.
- For parole or probation, use Probation & Parole. Parole decisions belong to BOPP and CT DOC Parole and Community Services, while probation belongs to Judicial Branch CSSD.
- For a same-day local check, use Jail Releases: 24 Hours. Bristol publishes an arrest blotter, not an official recent-release feed.
- For an estimated date or custody alert, use Projected Release and VINELink Inmate Search.
- For a Bristol criminal case, use the Judicial Branch Criminal and Motor Vehicle Case Look-up. GA 17 is in the Police-Court Complex at 131 North Main Street.
- For a person in Connecticut jail or prison custody, check the CT DOC inmate search gateway or call the Public Information Office. Bristol Police cannot confirm CT DOC custody.
- For federal custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator. For current ICE detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator System.
